Hamrah, a Farsi word that translates to “fellow travelers,” comes from an Iranian protest song and was collaboratively chosen with the first group of youth participants to embody their ongoing journey of solidarity. Hamrah Arts Club (HAC) was founded in 2021 by Nazafarin Lotfi, a visual artist, educator, organizer, and human rights activist from Iran, and has been hosted at MOCA since 2022.

Since Fall 2024, Sirilak Rottler and Mariel Miranda have co-organized Hamrah Arts Club. Their teaching centers asset-based approaches that support intercultural and multigenerational community development. The program has grown in popularity, particularly among Afghan, Syrian, and Mexican youth.

Drop-ins are welcome. Feel free to attend for one or all weeks.
